Howard is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of GT. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Certified in Financial Forensics by the AICPA. He specializes in forensic accounting and fraud investigations, litigation consulting, expert witness services, turnaround and business consulting, fractional CFO services, and insolvency matters.
He’s a member of the panel of Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees in the Riverside Division of the Central District of California and acts as a Chapter 7 and 11 trustee. His litigation consulting and expert witness services include highly complex and high-profile business and family law disputes.
He graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Accounting.
The only thing Howard loves more than GT (affectionately referred to as his third child) is his family. Howard and his wife, Sheba, have two children – Aaron and Reisa. The family loves to travel and experience places and foods from around the world. As a devout car enthusiast, you can find him enjoying his classic cars, which include a 1955 Chevy Bel Air, a 1968 Chevy Chevelle, and a 1970 Ford F250 pickup truck.
Josh is the Co-Founder of GT. He has been in practice since 1997 and is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified in Financial Forensics, Certified Information Systems Auditor and Certified Information Technology Professional.
Josh’s professional experience is focused on fiduciary support, insolvency consulting, forensic accounting, fraud investigation, economic damages, expert witness testimony, fractional CFO support, forensic technology, transactional due diligence, and auditing. Josh has served as a court appointed Receiver, a disbursing agent, a settlement accountant and a neutral accountant in numerous litigation and insolvency matters.
Josh is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder and has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
In his downtime, Josh tries to maximize his family time and enjoys date nights with his Australian wife (also a CPA), Tae Kwon Do with his oldest son, and scootering around the neighborhood with his youngest. Josh is an avid chef, burgeoning wine connoisseur, and amateur race car driver. He loves doing little projects around the house and the perfect weekend involves never leaving it.
Ben is a Partner at GT and a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of experience. His professional focus is on insolvency services and forensic accounting. Ben has successfully guided debtors through the Chapter 11 process, maximized the value of Chapter 7 liquidations, and consulted with many distressed companies, helping to avoid a bankruptcy filing all together. On the forensic side, Ben has documented, tracked and recovered tens of millions of dollars in client assets.
Away from the office, Ben is an avid fan of his son’s little league team and his daughters’ soccer activities. When not cheering loudly from the sidelines, Ben enjoys a myriad of family travel adventures including experiencing random, offbeat destinations with his wife. When at home, he has been known to get lost in set of oils and a canvas.
Kermith is a lead tax Partner at GT. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has been in practice since 2006. Kermith’ s professional experience focuses on tax compliance, insolvency tax consulting, and transactional due diligence on tax-focused issues. Kermith is a graduate of the California State University Northridge and has a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy.
In his free time, Kermith enjoys playing racquetball, spending time with his wife, and taking drives up the coast to visit his daughter at college. Kermith loves the LA Dodgers and regularly makes the trip to the stadium to take in a game (go blue!). He is an admitted Netflix binge watcher and novice chef that enjoys finding new ways to grill foods that aren’t normally grilled.
Jeff is a lead tax Partner at GT and has been providing extensive tax expertise over 30 years. He represents clients in an array of industries, including law, medical, real estate, service, manufacturing, distribution, and sales. Jeff has represented some of the most respected leaders in Hollywood, including writers, directors, producers, and actors. His breadth of knowledge has allowed him to work with clients small and large, high net worth individuals, startups, or industry leaders on national and local scale. Jeff regularly advises clients in real estate and business and assists them in understanding tax consequences, retirement planning, tax planning, investments and allocations, and estate planning. He has served as a trustee for several clients’ families.
Jeff graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He resides in Agoura Hills and has been married to his wife, Risa, for almost 30 years. Together, they have three children, Jamie, Jason, and Brittany, who are currently attending college. Jeff is a competitive golfer and loves to spend time with his family, especially for Sunday barbecues.
Kurt is a Partner in GT’s Litigation and Valuation Services group. He has worked exclusively in forensic accounting for over 25 years, focusing on financial and economic damages, business valuation, expert witness testimony, lost earnings for individuals, marital dissolution, and commercial property insurance claims.
Kurt is an adjunct professor at Chapman University’s Argyros School of Business and Economics for both the graduate and undergraduate accounting programs. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Certified Valuation Analyst and is accredited in Business Valuation and certified in Financial Forensics by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Kurt earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Southern California and a Master of Business Administration from Chapman University. He resides in Newport Beach with his wife and two daughters and is an avid runner, cyclist, and musician.
Erik Rasmussen is a Principal of GT and heads its Cybersecurity and Risk Management Solutions group. He has almost fifteen years of experience providing Cybersecurity consulting including within the US Government and to publicly and privately held companies. An internationally recognized speaker, Erik has spoken at such distinguished venues as Interpol and RSA Security and is quoted in numerous media publications, including the Associated Press, Law360, Newsweek, and USA Today.
Erik previously worked as a Managing Director at a global risk management firm covering incident response and governance. He also served as a United States Secret Service agent for nine years and conducted dozens of domestic and international computer crimes investigations. He provided cybersecurity support to the George W. Bush Presidential Center dedication ceremony. Erik’s security acumen also includes the Secret Service’s protective intelligence and threat assessment mission where, for nearly a third of his career, he investigated domestic and international terrorism.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Erik attended Occidental College and Seattle University School of Law. He was a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Pierce County, Washington where he prosecuted over a dozen general misdemeanor and domestic violence misdemeanor cases.
Steve is a Principal of GT and has been with the firm since its inception. He has been in practice since 2006 and is a Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Controls Specialist.
Steve’s professional experience focuses on business management, small business and start-up consulting, fractional CFO support, business management, forensic accounting, fraud investigation, bankruptcy, and tax consulting. Steve is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach and has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
In his downtime, Steve is a fanatic of all major sports and enjoys participating in recreational sports leagues for soccer, basketball, and softball. Steve has set a goal to travel outside the United States once a year to explore what the world has to offer.
Kailey is a Principal of GT and has been with the firm since it opened its doors. She has ten years of experience as a financial consultant and is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor. Kailey’s professional experience focuses on advising trustees, receivers, and debtors in distressed or insolvent positions. She also has extensive experience in forensic accounting, fraud investigations, and expert witness testimony.
Kailey is the current Vice President of the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum. In the past, she has held board positions on local chapters of Turnaround Management Association and International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation.
Away from the office, Kailey and her husband enjoy traveling, walking and hiking with their two spoiled Golden Doodles, and remodeling their home. With their families local to Southern California, they try to spend as much time as possible with their loved ones.
Brian is a Partner and the East Coast Practice Leader of Grobstein Teeple LLP and has been with the Firm since its founding in 2013. He holds Certified Public Accountant licenses in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and California, and is a Certified Fraud Examiner. Brian’s professional practice includes litigation consulting and forensic accounting matters, receiverships, business valuations, and providing business financial consulting. Brian has previously served as a Business Manager and an Interim CFO and has been appointed as an Expert Witness in California State Court.
Brian is a member of several professional organizations including the AICPA, the California Society of CPAs, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the National Association of Federal Equity Receivers, and the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. In September 2018, Brian was appointed to the Citizens Corps Council for the City of Alexandria. Brian is a graduate of Northern Illinois University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and a master’s degree in Accountancy Sciences.
A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Brian is an avid ice hockey and golf enthusiast. He enjoys the art of cooking and exploring the East coast with his wife, daughter, and two California rescue pups.
Eddie is a Partner at GT with nearly a decade of experience in accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant with a professional focus on financial statement audits, internal control evaluation, tax planning and strategy, Fractional CFO, and startup consulting. His industry focuses include real estate, technology, advertising, retail, food service, service providers, and not-for-profit.
Eddie received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance at California State University, Northridge. He is currently a member of the AICPA and CalCPA.
In his free time, Eddie enjoys being outdoors, whether it’s at the beach, playing pickup basketball games, or watching a baseball game at Dodger Stadium.
Will Thomsen is a Director at GT. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Accredited Senior Appraiser with over 25 years of experience providing business valuations and economic analyses to businesses ranging from small family-owned enterprises to Fortune 1000 companies across numerous industries. His consulting expertise also includes economic damage assessment and expert testimony for commercial and employment disputes. He has frequently testified regarding valuation and economic damage issues and has qualified as an expert witness in U.S. District Court and California Superior Court.
Will provides business valuations and economic analysis to help clients with estate tax planning, transaction due diligence, strategic planning, financial reporting, shareholder disputes, financial restructuring, eminent domain litigation, and other civil litigation matters. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute and the Accredited Senior Appraiser designation in Business Valuation from the American Society of Appraisers. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Pomona College and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Columbia University.
Will likes to spend his leisure time with his wife, two small kids, and several dogs. When time allows, he also likes to play tennis or surf.
Jeffrey is a Director at GT and has worked eighteen years with international and national public accounting firms. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner and his practice focuses on fraud investigations, forensic analysis, economic damage calculations, and litigation consulting. Jeffrey has provided expert testimony in both California and Alaska state courts.
Jeffrey is a graduate of Loyola Law School, Loyola Marymount University and University of Arizona. He is also the Director of Training for the Ventura County chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. When he’s not busy following the money trail, Jeffrey enjoys giving presentations on fraud detection and prevention.
With a house full of children and animals, Jeffrey doesn’t have a lot of downtime, but he tries to get to the beach as much as possible. He tries to hike from the valley to the ocean at least once a year along the Backbone Trail in the Santa Monica Mountains National Park.
Rachel is a Director at GT. She has been in practice since 2004 and is a Certified Public Accountant. She believes it is all about the relationships with her clients as well as her team. She places a strong emphasis on being proactive and advocating for her clients.
Rachel’s professional experience focuses on individual and business tax compliance and planning, with experience in an array of different industries, including entertainment and media, professional services, real estate, and high net worth individuals and families. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management Economics.
Away from the office, Rachel spends time with her family and friends. She enjoys date nights and concerts with her husband and absorbing every moment possible with her two children, whether that means a day at the beach, completing puzzles, or squeezing her family until they ask her to stop. She loves live music and, whenever possible, reading a good book. She also enjoys yoga or intense gym classes.
Mike is a Senior Manager at GT. He has been working in public accounting since 1997 and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1999 and subsequently became a Certified Fraud Examiner. While he earned his Master of Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton, Mike was a Public Affairs Specialist with the Internal Revenue Service.
Mike’s practice focuses on litigation support, insolvency consulting, forensic accounting, fraud investigation, and expert witness testimony. For several years prior to joining GT, Mike was a partner in his own accounting firm providing traditional accounting services such as tax preparation and advice, auditing, and general business consulting to small and medium-sized businesses, business owners, and high net worth individuals. After successfully selling the practice to a regional accounting firm, Mike has returned to the litigation and bankruptcy fields to round out his successful career.
Time away from the office includes participation in community activities, taking care of his dogs, an occasional game of golf, and traveling abroad. He enjoys reading history books and classic car magazines and watching classic films. He does most of the cooking around the house, while keeping the wine cellar stocked with regular trips to Napa Valley.
Silva Chamichyan is a Manager at GT. Her focus includes preparation of partnership and corporate tax returns, specializing in private equity. Silva is a graduate of the University of California, Northridge and has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
During her free time, Silva enjoys hanging out with family and friends, going to concerts, and traveling. Her favorite trip so far has been to Italy and she is planning a trip to Thailand next year.
Steven is a Manager at GT and a Certified Public Accountant. He joined GT with over five years of non-profit and private accounting experience.
Steven’s professional focus is in financial statement assurance services, small business consulting, forensic accounting, and individual and business tax preparation. He has unique experience as serving as an on-site controller in fractional controller roles for various companies. Steven is a graduate of San Diego State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Accountancy.
In his downtime, Steven can be found soaking up the sun on the beach, eating his weight in local cuisine somewhere around the world, or planning the next great adventure with his fiancée.
Lucia is a Manager and has been with GT since 2015. She has twelve years of professional experience in accounting, management, and administrative fields, providing support and assistance to clients, individuals, and executives throughout the firm.
Lucia’s professional experience includes tax preparation and controversy, payroll, business filings, business formations, bookkeeping, accounts payables and receivables, financial statement preparation, and general support to clients in various industries. Lucia graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and speaks English and Spanish fluently.
During her free time, Lucia enjoys spending time with her three kids, going on date nights with her husband, horseback riding, hiking, and cooking. She also enjoys quiet time, reading literature, and catching up on Netflix.
Kevin is a Senior Accountant with GT. He joined the firm in February of 2012 after completing his Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from California State University, Northridge. While at CSUN, Kevin was part of a team that won first place in the annual IT competition in the “Networking: Cloud Solutions” category, hosted by Cal Poly Pomona.
Kevin’s professional experience focuses on litigation support, insolvency consulting, forensic accounting, forensic technology, and cybersecurity.
In his downtime, Kevin remains active around the house, traveling with his wife, and spending time with their three dogs. Kevin also enjoys working on his computers, snowboarding, and hitting the racetrack in his shifter kart.
Jessie is a Senior Accountant at GT. She has been with the firm since 2016 and is a currently studying for the Certified Public Accountant exam.
Jessie primarily focuses on tax and forensic accounting. She has also had the opportunity to work on receivership cases, most notably a large Colorado-based receivership. Jessie graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in History. In addition, she is a member of several professional organizations such as the National Association of Asian American Professionals and CalCPA.
In her downtime, Jessie loves traveling with her friends and family, watching the Lakers and Dodgers, and napping with her two dogs.
Ken has been with GT since 2014. He is a Senior Accountant at the firm and is a Certified Public Accountant. His professional focus includes personal, business, and fiduciary tax return preparation and tax planning. His previous experience includes private accounting as a controller, operations management in private industry manufacturing, and small business management. Ken is a graduate of the University of California, Northridge and has a Bachelor of Science in Finance.
During his free time, Ken enjoys traveling with his wife, watching the latest movies together, working on improving their home, and taking their pug for short walks.
Tracey is a Consultant and Account Manager at GT. Her professional experience consists of providing business management services to entertainers and high net worth individuals. Tracey also has experience preparing forensic reconstructions, analysis of bank accounts, full bookkeeping, and all aspects of billing and accounts payable oversight. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences with a business option from California State University, Northridge.
Tracey enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing games, dancing, and hiking. Her kids keep her busy, but she has found time for her latest passion, which is bowling every Wednesday night on the only all-female team in her bowling league.
Lucy is a Staff Accountant with GT. She graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. While attending CSUN, she was a member of the Accounting Association and an active participant of charity events.
When Lucy has free time, she enjoys spending it with family and friends. She also loves interior and exterior designing. She is an admirer of home network shows and hopes to design a home from start to finish one day. Lucy also loves to travel, believing that life is a journey and not just a destination.
Lindsay is a Staff Accountant at GT. She joined the firm in May 2017 as an intern before obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Professional Accounting at California State University, Northridge. She has volunteered for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) since February 2015 as both a tax preparer and as a supervisor. Additionally, Lindsay is a member of the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) and was the Director of Finance for the chapter at California State, Northridge in 2017.
When she’s not at the office, Lindsay watches all Marvel movies and enjoys reading and music. She loves playing with her dogs, listening to 80s rock and reggaetón music, and is a make-up product enthusiast. She also tries to spend time with her siblings out on the archery range and playing video games.
Brian Siegel is an Information Technology Specialist at GT and has been working in the IT field for over fifteen years. Brian’s on-the-job training and love of computers and technology have allowed him to fine tune his hardware and software technology capabilities and obtain experience in the field of data recovery.
Brian’s IT career has furthered his knowledge in network technologies, computer repair and maintenance, IT security, forensic imaging, and customization/manipulation of mobile devices. He has earned CompTIA A+ and CompTIA N+ certifications.
Lynn is GT’s Office Manager. Lynn joined GT with more than 25 years of operational experience.
Her professional experience began in the hospitality industry, with an emphasis on Human Resources Management and payroll for more than 500 employees, which included both union and non-union employees. Lynn’s work ethic fosters an environment that maximizes management objectives.
When not working, Lynn enjoys spending time with her family, weekend getaways, yoga, Pilates, spin, and reading. Lynn’s youngest son has two years before graduating high school and her oldest is entering his sophomore year at University of Arizona. Lynn thought it would be a good idea to add another member to the family – Harlee, the family’s Golden Retriever puppy.
Sheena is the Trustee Administrator at GT. She is a certified paralegal with over thirteen years of experience in administering bankruptcy cases, including the case administration of operating Chapter 11 cases and Chapter 7 cases, as well as liquidating trusts. As Howard’s Trustee Administrator, Sheena is an integral part of case oversight and asset liquidation. She manages a high volume of active bankruptcy cases and facilitates each case to properly meet all fiduciary and reporting requirements in accordance with the Department of Justice and U.S. Bankruptcy Courts. In addition to frequently communicating with the the Office of the United States Trustee, and U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Sheena serves as a liaison between debtor’s counsel, creditors, and other third parties.
When not working, Sheena enjoys traveling, drinking good wine, and spending time with her family and friends.
ASSISTANT TRUSTEE ADMINISTRATOR
Wendi is the Assistant Trustee Administrator at GT. She has been actively working within the bankruptcy practice since 1990. Wendi has had the opportunity to sharpen her skills in several aspects of the bankruptcy field by working with creditors, debtors, and trustees throughout the industry. Wendi has also been able to work with bankruptcy professionals in all 50 states throughout her career. Before being a trustee administrator at GT, Wendi worked for the US Bankruptcy Court.
Wendi spends her time off keeping her family on track and enjoying life. She has an active family who spends time participating in a soccer league, of which she is the team manager. Her son is in high school, participating in basketball and flag football, and is an avid skateboarder. During vacations, Wendi takes each opportunity to explore new places and countries.
Brooke Borba is GT’s Receptionist and Director of First Impressions. She has professional experience working in various industries, including film production, teaching, journalism, and creative writing.
Brooke graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature where she received Cum Laude honors.
Brooke enjoys hiking, wakeboarding, boating, and weight lifting. Her hobbies include reading classic works of literature, preserving wildlife, and spending time with her family.
